Renovation Round-Up

At Mountain, we take on many types of projects. Few are as challenging and rewarding as renovations. They require us to work carefully with what is already there, whether that means preserving a building’s historic character, coordinating around ongoing operations, or protecting the surrounding environment.

That range comes through in three very different projects: a full seismic retrofit of a century-old church, six years of additions and renovations at a business that operates 24/7, and a large-scale renovation in an environmentally sensitive public park.

Historic Restoration and Seismic Retrofit: Trinity Presbyterian

We completed a full restoration and seismic retrofit of Trinity Presbyterian, a century-old Gothic Revival-style masonry church. A central goal was to preserve the church’s beautiful sanctuary, striking stained-glass windows, intricate concrete stonework, and window tracery.

Our work included reinforcing the masonry and strengthening the roof, walls, floors, and bell tower. We also installed a new roof and energy-efficient HVAC system, added classrooms, remodeled interior spaces, and improved accessibility.

The renovation gives Trinity a safer, more functional space for its congregation while preserving the Gothic Revival character that has defined the church for more than a century.

Renovating Around Active Operations: BJ’s Bingo

We’ve worked with BJ’s Bingo in Fife for six years. During that time, we’ve added more than 30,000 square feet and remodeled over 100,000 square feet, all while the business has remained open to the public 24 hours a day.

We used temporary walls, redirected vehicle and pedestrian traffic, and implemented AGC safety practices to maintain safe access and limit disruption. This approach kept construction moving while BJ’s continued its daily operations.

Building in an Environmentally Sensitive Setting: Kopachuck State Park

Kopachuck State Park was our first public project. Through a full-scale renovation, we transitioned the state park’s former campground into a day-use destination with new buildings, updated infrastructure, and improved accessibility.

Its forested waterfront setting required close attention to ecological and environmental considerations throughout construction. Our scope included major stormwater management upgrades and the incorporation of salvaged wood from the site into new park features.

The renovation gives locals and visitors more ways to use and enjoy Kopachuck while respecting its natural setting.

Why Mountain

We bring the experience, team, and resources to take on a wide range of renovation work. We work closely with owners and project partners to find solutions, keep the work moving, and deliver quality work we can stand behind.
